The Labor Day Week DUI crackdown on impaired drivers, which started Monday, Aug. 25, ended this Monday.

The enforcement effort resulted in a large number of DUI arrests from the increased number of officers on the road, Special Saturation Patrols, and routine patrols in Placer County.

During the eight-day period, officers representing seven law enforcement agencies arrested 130 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Additionally, there were 10 DUI related injuries and 12 DUI related collisions. No DUI-related fatalities were reported in Placer County. Some agencies have yet to report their totals.

During the Labor Day enforcement period, law enforcement officials conducted Task Force Operations and Saturation Patrols throughout the county and region. Additionally, all California Highway Patrol Areas throughout the state increased staff during the Labor Day weekend in efforts to keep drunk drivers off the road.

Programs such as Avoid the 7, which represents the number of police agencies in each county, also concentrate on Independence Day weekend, as well as the three-week winter holiday period.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
