McClintock Abandons Veterans
Posted by: SDButler

Sen. Tom McClintock opposed AB 1666 (Frommer) which released active duty service members from certain fees including: overdue interest for car leases, utility termination/activation fees, etc, upon deployment overseas. The legislation was supported by the National Guard Association of California.

But Tom McClintock was 1 of only 2 people to vote "NO." There’s your fiscal conservative for you. Stick it to our heroes in uniform for overdue fees because they are deployed fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, you keep taking that per diem that you are “entitled to” for a house you don’t own or pay rent on. Nice going, Tom. You're a real patriot.

No, Tom is not a real patriot, Tom is a real idiot.

As I recall on this issue from when Doug Ose dumped $4 Millon trying to beat Tom, the bill violates the constitution because it puts the cost of unpaid bills upon those who loaned money to veterans.

Now, suppose you are holding the loan on a building and your tenant owns a business in that building. The tenant is a member of the national guard and has not paid the bill for a year now. His business is still there, and no money.

You are paying the loan, but not receiving your checks. Is that justice?

Would this bill not end up causing people to refuse loans to members of the national guard?

Charlie Brown would have abandoned our troops in the battlefield. He called for "Immediate re-deployment of all National Guard troops from Iraq" back in 2006. Had this been done, the remaining troops would be taking a blood bath right now.

The Surge worked even though it was done against the recommendation of people like Brown who claims to support our troops, but joined with those who attached David Patreaus as "General Betray Us".

Brown is re-writing history to pretend he is pro-troops. Had his advice been taken, we would have lost hundreds more and the people of Iraq would have lost millions.

R_T, Brown is pro trrops, haven't you seen the ads and a letter to the editor. I didn't call McClintock an idiot just because of this issue, I lived in Ventura County when he first ran for office, sounded good, got elected and nothing else that I could see. Yes he votes against taxes every time and for that I am grateful although at times higher taxes are justified, specially in those cases that have safeguards and checks and balances built into them.

As far as Charlie Brown, I hear he's learning to dance the Tarantella to please Madam Pelosi if he is elected.

R_T - This is not about Charlie Brown, troop redeployment, the Surge, Gen. Petraeus or your conjectures of what might have happened in Iraq. It's about Tom McClintock's voting record. Please try to keep up with the subject.

The fact is that McClintock voted against two California veteran's bills in 2005. He offered no alternatives to remove the constitutional objections he had. He didn't even debate the bills on the floor of the senate and he put nothing in the record regarding why he didn't vote for the bills. His justifications came later when he was called on the carpet about these votes by the Ose Campaign.

On these bills, aside from his lonely votes, Tom McClintock was Missing in Action. When I was in the military we had another phrase that perhaps is more applicable. Tom is on the government service ROAD plan - Retired On Active Duty. Don't let him keep up the bad work. Don't vote for Tom the ROADie in November.
