Jeff Tooker, Assistant Princpal at Del Oro High School, recently attended the Rotary Club of Rocklin/Loomis Basin's meeting. Jeff gave an update of the stadium project, and He thanked the club for continued support of the project.
The Del Oro Stadium project is a huge community grass roots effort to improve the stadium facilities at Del Oro. Last summer, phase 1 was completed with the installation of an all-weather field and track. In the past year, the use of the stadium has increased dramatically, as both the school and community sports teams use and host events with the improved field and track. Jeff explained where they're at with the stadium project:
"I'm $200,000 in debt to the district, who let us complete the first phase last year. It's been a great boost to all the sports teams in the area. It's the first improvement in almost 50 years to a stadium that's been a home to many of Del Oro's fine teams throughout the years."
"As donations come in, some of the money goes to pay off the debt, and some of it goes to needed improvements. This summer, the upper stadium wooden steps will be replaced by new aluminum steps, and handrailing will be installed."
"We appreciate the support that Loomis Rotary has given us. The businesses and service clubs has really come through for us."
Phase 2 includes improvements to the stadium and new facilities. Donations and Sponsorships can be made to this continuing project at: www.puhsd.k12.ca.us/deloro/stadium/proposal.htm
The Rotary Club of Rocklin/Loomis Basin has contributed $5,000 over the past 3 years to the stadium project. More information about the club can be found at:
