The Del Oro High School boys golf team is once again getting big contributions from its younger players.

Sophomore Louie Euer was the medalist Wednesday, firing an even-par 36 at Woodcreek against Oakmont as the Golden Eagles scored a 190-192 victory to improve to 4-0 on the season.

“After the first four scores came in we were down three,” said Eagles coach Hal Steinback. “And Louie beat his guy by five, so we won by two.”

Josh Sedeno, a freshman, shot a 39 for the Eagles.

In the past, Del Oro has had good performances from Austin Smotherman and Eric Ash as younger classmen.

“We’re getting help from the young guys again,” Steinback said. “We’re hoping the same formula works again.”

Euer was followed by Justin Raskin (38), Jahaan Nargussi (38), Bobby Mullen (39) and Ryan Takayama (39).

Corey Eddings led Oakmont, shooting a 36.

“They’re a good team,” Steinback said of Oakmont. “We haven’t really played up to our potential. The kids focused today and we had five kids in the 30s. It was pretty sweet.”

Del Oro returns to the links today to face Del Campo at Turkey Creek. Tee time is 3 p.m.
