Auburn Police are alleging fake money orders were used to buy rings at two jewelry stores.
Police reported Monday that detectives Adam Cline and Dustin McLaughlin arrested 34-year-old Melissa Southworth for allegedly purchasing items at two Auburn jewelry stores using fraudulent U.S. Postal money orders
At each store, Southworth purchased a men’s style ring and paid for it with a fraudulent money order, police said.
Total loss to each business was about $800 to $1,000 dollars.
Southworth was booked into the Placer County Jail for burglary, forgery, and conspiracy. She remained jailed Monday, held on $42,500 bail.
