The Auburn Police Department released new information about the suspected Wells Fargo bank robber Tuesday. The white male suspect, who robbed the Downtown Auburn bank shortly after noon Monday appears to be involved in the WaMu Bank robbery in Sacramento on Dec. 30, 2008, according to a release by Chief Valerie E. Harris. Auburn’s Police Department and the FBI are investigating this. Sgt. Dave Lawicka responded to Monday’s robbery in Auburn and noted the suspect left the bank on foot and disappeared after being chased by a Wells Fargo bank customer. According to witnesses, the suspect may have gotten into a dark green four-door vehicle similar to a late 1990s or newer Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable before fleeing the area onto Orange Street. The suspect, approximately 5-foot-8, 170 pounds, may have an injury to his right palm that required stitches. One witness described the injury as a “gash” with stitches.
