Detectives are searching for a lone robber, apparently desperate for Christmas money, who robbed the Weimar Country Store at gunpoint. The man, described as 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, told the two clerks at the 20170 Paoli Lane store that he had also been robbed and needed money for Christmas, according to Dena Erwin, Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. When he first entered the store at about 7 p.m. Monday, the robber displayed a handgun and approached the male clerk, who was working at the back of the store. He then ordered the clerk to the front of the store, where he and a female clerk were ordered to open the cash register and dump the money into a bag, Erwin said. The suspect then bound the wrists of both clerks before he fled the store on foot. Shortly after he walked out, two vehicles were seen leaving the area: a silver Toyota pickup truck and a tan or brown Ford pickup truck with a red camper shell. Within minutes, the male clerk was able to free himself and call 911. Although the suspect’s face was covered during the robbery, the clerks reported he had brownish-blond hair and appeared to be in his early 20s. -------------------- To Help Anyone with information about the vehicles or the suspect is urged to call Detective Bill Summers at (530) 889-7843.
