Collision ‘nearly’ head-on, CHP says
The drivers of two vehicles that crashed into each other in Penryn Friday morning, Aug. 21, were taken to the hospital. The accident occurred about 8:50 a.m. on Taylor Road, at the corner of Penryn Road. One driver, Gisela Wendick-Pappas, 83, of Penryn, was transported to Kaiser Roseville Hospital with major head injuries, a wrist fracture and contusions to her chest, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman David Martinez. The other driver, Sandra Misuraca, 66, of Lincoln, was taken to Sutter Roseville Hospital with a fracture to her left leg and multiple lacerations, Martinez said. Martinez said Pappas was driving a Toyota Corolla west on Taylor Road when she attempted to make a left turn into the southbound lane of Penryn Road. Pappas subsequently hit the Honda Accord Misuraca was driving on Taylor Road in the direction toward Newcastle, Martinez said. “It was nearly a head on collision,” Martinez said. The drivers were the only occupants in the vehicles. The accident remains under investigation. Jenifer Gee can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
