Three armed men were arrested after allegedly robbing an Auburn household of its medical marijuana this week. Robin Oscar Tipton, 20, of Sacramento, David Eugene Thomas, 23, of Sacramento, and Duane Edward Patton, 23, of Elk Grove remained jailed Friday after they were arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of robbery and false imprisonment. The husband and wife victims called the Placer County Sheriff’s Office at about 3:07 p.m. after the three men stormed into their Dry Creek Road home and stole marijuana, cash and other items, according to Dena Erwin, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. One of the suspects was known to the victims, Erwin said. The men reportedly brandished a small silver handgun throughout the robbery and told the couple to stay in a confined area of the home, Erwin said. The three men were caught in Roseville less than 30 minutes later when deputies spotted them in a Lincoln Continental driving westbound on Interstate 80 near Douglas Boulevard. The car was stopped on the side of the freeway and the suspects were booked without incident, Erwin said. Deputies found a handgun matching a description of the one used during the robbery and some property inside their vehicle. Patton is being held at Placer County Jail on $100,000 bail. Tipton and Thomas are held without bail on parole holds. Detectives are not yet releasing the amount of marijuana and its cash value, the amount of cash or the type of property taken at this time while the investigation is ongoing, Erwin said. ~ Staff report
