The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents that mail thefts are on the rise.
Lynn Harrison, community services officer with the Sheriff’s office, said, “We are seeing an increase in mail thefts from roadside and cluster boxes.”
Harrison asked residents to “make every attempt to send and receive mail at a post office, or at a minimum, please pick up your mail from your box daily.”
She also warned residents against leaving outgoing mail in a roadside box.
She said packages delivered to residences during the holiday season need to be picked up in a timely manner and if residents are not going to be home they should arrange for someone else to pick them up and hold them.
