My time at the Loomis News, for over 16 years this last time, has been a rewarding experience and you are all responsible for making it so. Loomis has become my second home, where I’ve had the pleasure of getting acquainted with so many of you in this wonderful community. To those whom I never met, I hope to do so when I return to Loomis on the civilian side of the fence, instead of behind a camera with a reporter’s notebook in hand. Your cooperation and support have helped tremendously in making the Loomis News a true reflection of the community. Please continue sending all those news tips, photographs, announcements and event information to Joyia Emard, your new editor. If you have access to a computer, please use our website to submit your news. It’s easy, quick and helps us organize our news gathering. But please continue to read the Loomis News and any other newspaper you can still get your hands on. Instill in your children and students – and anyone who will listen – the love of reading, especially newspapers. It will go a long way in helping newspapers survive. Loomis is a unique town, rich in history and tradition, with a spirit of cooperation and caring. Thank you to those who work so diligently in preserving its agricultural heritage and small-town way of life. For now, it’s “30” for me as your editor. It has been an honor to serve you. My new assignment is as editor of the Colfax Record, where I got my start in newspapers. I grew up in Colfax and have many ties there. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and making many new friends. Once again, I will have the opportunity of telling the story of my hometown through the pages of the Colfax Record.
