Sports get under way at Del Oro High

Football scrimmages will highlight the first big week of Del Oro High sports events for the 2009-10 school year. Tonight, the Golden Eagle football squads will travel to El Dorado Hills for scrimmages with Oak Ridge. The freshmen and JVs will both mix it up with the Trojans at 5:30 p.m., while the varsity’s line-up at about 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the football teams will play host to Casa Roble with frosh action at 8 a.m., JVs at 9:30 a.m. and varsity at 11:30 a.m. The scrimmages will set the stage for Del Oro’s season-opening football games that will include the frosh playing at Antelope on Thursday, Sept. 10; the JVs opening at Foresthill on Friday, Sept. 11; and the varsity playing California High of San Ramon at Folsom High at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in the “Battle at the Capital” showcase. Also tonight, the girls volleyball squad will play at Placer in a varsity-only Foundation Game starting at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, in boys soccer, Dave Shiro’s varsity squad will play at the Cherry Island Complex in the Del Campo Tournament. Action will be both Friday and Saturday. The girls volleyball squad will also be in action as they travel to the High Sierra Tournament in Reno on Friday and Saturday. The JV girls water polo team will also be in action when they play Saturday in a tournament hosted by Fairfield.
