Soroptimists recognize local women

Soroptimist International of Rocklin-Loomis honored area citizens at an awards ceremony held Jan. 28 at Loomis Veterans Memorial Hall. Awards totaled $6,375. Amee Catalano, a Del Oro High School senior, received the Violet Richardson Award, along with $500 in scholarship and $500 to the non-profit organization of her choice, Global Citizens Network. Acsa Hitchens accepted a $2,500 grant on behalf of the Loomis Senior L.I.F.E. Center. Awards were also made to Penryn Elementary School and teacher Rebecca Connolly and Placer Elementary School and teacher Diana Nordin, among others.
