Sierra College offering course on the Sierra Nevada

-A +A
A popular course at Sierra College, an interdisciplinary class on The Sierra Nevada, is being presented this fall. Interdisciplinary 6 is a broad overview of John Muir’s “Range of Light” as seen by specialists, experts and lifelong students of the Sierra. “This course is a fun one to put together as it draws subject material and presenters from throughout the state,” said Joe Medeiros, the course’s coordinator and Professor Emeritus of biological sciences at the college. This will be the fifth time Medeiros has coordinated this popular course. The course will also be televised and viewed via numerous cable TV stations. Additionally, enrolled TV/DL students can observe the lectures via iTunes through Blackboard. Interdisciplinary 6: The Sierra Nevada meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room LRC 124 in the Library/Learning Resources Center on the Rocklin campus. The class began Aug. 24 with introductory lectures on natural and environmental history of the Sierra given by Medeiros and Professor Gary Noy of the Center for Sierra Nevada Studies. The public can sit in on the class, but seating priority goes to enrolled students. Only a handful of seats are available to the public. Sierra College is located at 5000 Rocklin Road in Rocklin. There is a $2 parking fee on campus. For information, log on to sierracollege.edu. ~ Staff report
