Sierra College to host crab, shrimp feed

-A +A
The Sierra College Patrons and Sierra College Aquatics program are once again teaming up to host an evening of food, musical entertainment, silent auction and raffle. The Crab and Shrimp Feed will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the Blue Goose fruit sheds, located at 3550 Taylor Road in Loomis. The “feed” will begin with salad, pasta, bread, and cracked crab and shrimp, and end with coffee and plates of homemade cookies. There will be a no-host bar and a silent auction put on by the Sierra College Patrons, which will include antiques, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, household items and treasure baskets. This annual fundraising event helps support the award-winning aquatics program at Sierra College, which will particpate in the state championship again this year. Last year the women’s waterpolo team took first place in the Big 8 Conference title with an overall record of 21-6. The Sierra College Patrons, a branch of the Sierra College Foundation, are dedicated to promoting the arts and humanities at the college and to provide cultural enrichment to the community. Proceeds from patron-sponsored events are used to benefit these programs in the form of grants and scholarships awarded to Sierra College students, and to support arts and humanities programs. The Patrons, founded in 1984, currently have close to 50 members. A portion of the funds collected from this event will help them continue with the services they provide. The cost for this event is $40 per person. The deadline to purchase pre-paid reservations is Feb. 5, and no checks will be accepted after this date. Reservations must be purchased in advance, and none will be sold at the door. Reservations must be paid for by the deadline.
