Sierra Christian Church, located at 5645 Rocklin Road in Loomis, will celebrate its 25th anniversary of ministry in the Rocklin-Loomis area Sunday, Jan. 23. The Rev. Dr. Ben Bohren, regional minister of the Christian Church in Northern California-Nevada, will preach at the 10:30 a.m. service. Following the service, a light luncheon will be served In December 1985, 83 persons signed the charter forming the new congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Northern California-Nevada. The congregations purchased five acres of a former horse farm. With the assistance of students at Sierra College, the horse barn was converted into a chapel and worship center for the congregation. During the anniversary service, the 10 charter members still living in the area and active in the congregation will be recognized for their long years of service. There will also be read communications from former members now living elsewhere. According to the current pastor, Rev. William “Bill” Garrett, all interested persons are invited to attend celebration. For more information or to reserve a space for the luncheon, 624-8733.
