A pair of rematches from the regular season and two No. 1 seeds highlight the first round pairings for foothill-area teams in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section’s boys and girls basketball playoff brackets, which were released Wednesday afternoon.

The six division tournament will begin Friday night with outbracket games and then continue next week with first- and second-round games at home sites. The tournament then moves to neutral sites for semifinal-round games Feb. 27-28.

Championship games are then set for Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento for boys and girls teams in Div. I through Div. V. Championship games in Div. VI are slated for Galt High School.

For area boys teams, both Placer in Div. III and Del Oro in Div. II will be facing opponents they met during the regular season, while Colfax has emerged as the No. 1 seed in Div. IV.

In Div. III, Placer (19-8), the No. 7 seed, will play host next Wednesday to Tri-County Conference champion Inderkum (18-9). The two teams met back on Dec. 20 in the Rail City Classic in Sparks with the Tigers eeking out a 59-58 win.

Meanwhile, Del Oro, 18-9 and the No. 9 seed in the Div. II boys bracket, will face a tough task going on the road to take on eighth-seeded Del Campo (19-8). The Golden Eagles posted a 76-70 overtime win over the Cougars in Loomis back on Jan. 4.

Colfax, which captured the Pioneer Valley League championship on Tuesday by defeating Lincoln, will open Div. IV play on Wednesday by hosting No. 16 seed Hughson (11-13). The meeting between the Falcons and Huskies marks the first time the two squads have faced each other since Colfax won an epic quarter-final game in the 1999 playoffs, coming back from a 14-point, second-half deficit to score a 75-73 win.

In boys Div., No. 7 Forest Lake Christian (19-7) will also be at home for a 7 p.m. Wednesday home test against No. 10 Bradshaw Christian (16-9).

On the girls side of the ledger, Bear River, Colfax and Placer, the three teams that tied for the PVL championship, all received high seeds and could get two home games by staying on the win track.

In Div. III, Placer’s girls will open Tuesday at home. The Lady Hillmen (23-4) are the No. 4 seed and will play No. 13 Rosemont (13-14).

In Div. IV, No. 1 Bear River (23-3) will host Tuesday the winner of an outbracket game between Mariposa and Hilmar. Colfax, meanwhile, the No. 2 seed in Div. IV, will also play an outbracket victor of a game Friday between Los Banos and San Juan.

Del Oro’s Lady Eagles drew a No. 5 seed in Div. II and will host Tracy (16-10) in a first-round game Tuesday.

In girls Div. V, No. 9 Forest Lake Christian travels Tuesday to Modesto to play Central Catholic, while No. 10 Foresthill ventures to Stockton to play Big Valley Christian.
