Saturday dance honors military

Stephen Charles Band to play at Blue Goose
-A +A
The “Red, White & Blue” annual country western dance honors military, past and present, from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Blue Goose Fruit Shed. Special recognition will be given to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the unit of Japanese American citizens who fought valiantly during World War II. Dance and listen to the music of the Stephen Charles Band, see performances by the Thunderfoot Cloggers, and participate in free line dance lessons. Pizza and drinks will be available. Tickets are $25 per couple or $15 singles, and are available at Camelot Costumes, the Loomis Chamber, Blue Goose Produce or at the door. Brochures and contact information on the Veterans History Project will also be available at the dance. Three local members of the 442nd, as well as Loomis veterans from the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and the Gulf Wars, have been interviewed for the project. The Veterans History Project is an opportunity to record any war veteran's permanent legacy for the Library of Congress' American Folklore Center in the form of an audio/video interview about the veteran's experiences in wartime. Anyone who will not be attending the dance but is interested in the project can call Mike Neal at 652-5225 for information and an interview application.
