For years, the people of Loomis have asked for a large Christmas tree to decorate the Loomis Plaza. It finally happened.
I wish to thank the businesses that took part in the “GET-R-DONE” project. They include: Bill Pingree for the tree; John Newsom for the steel casing; The Del Oro High welding team and teacher Mike Pahl for fabrication; Paul Sondrol, with Spec West, for the leveling material; Secret Ravine Vineyards’ Ron Morris for trailering it to the site; Valley Rock’s Kurtis Nixon for base rock; Homewood Lumber’s Hamid Noorani for support straps; Foothill Feed’s Ted Greenfield for straw bales; and the American Legion Post 775 and the Loomis Lions for their dedication to community needs.
Henceforth, the tree shall be called the Loomis Family Christmas Tree. Each year we’ll put the family ornaments on the tree to celebrate that we are a large family and a small community. Bring your weather-proof family ornament to be put on the tree to the Train Depot, from 6-7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15. It should have your family name and the year you came to Loomis. If you can’t attend, drop it off early at the Loomis Basin Chamber of Commerce.
