Grid standout competing at nation's top combine
Eddie Vanderdoes' busy summer continued this week as the Placer High grid standout is competing at "The Opening, a Nike-sponsored combine for the top 150 high school senior-to-be football recruits in the nation. Despite his heavy workload of summer football activities that have included Placer team events and both regional and national combines, Vanderdoes has found time to whittle his collge selection list to 10 schools. With a reported 57 scholarship offers made his way, Vanderdoes came out on Twitter two weeks ago with his top 15 list. Now, in a sign of the times, ESPN.com reported Monday that Vanderdoes - via Twitter - has trimmed his choices now down to ten. Vanderdoes also noted on his tweet that the new list, in no way reflects the order of schools listed. The new top ten list includes Baylor, California, Florida, LSU, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA, USC and Washington. Knocked off the original list of 15 were Alabama, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan and Michigan State. Vanderdoes, a 6-foot threeinch 285-pound defensive lineman, is ranked as the nation's No. 57 player according to an ESPN poll. Vanderdoes and the Hillmen open their 2012 season on Aug. 31 at Central Catholic in Modesto.
