A Placer County elected official was arrested on a domestic violence charge Wednesday night. Lowell Martin Jarvis, a Placer County Water Agency board member, was booked into Placer County Jail Wednesday night after he was arrested at about 8:48 p.m. at his Newcastle home on a charge of willful infliction of corporal injury to a spouse, former spouse or cohabitant, according to Placer Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin. The victim reportedly told Placer Sheriff’s deputies that Jarvis twisted her arm, Erwin said. Deputies reported there were visible injuries to the victim’s arm and subsequently arrested Jarvis, according to Erwin. The victim called 911, Erwin said. Jarvis reportedly posted his $25,000 bail via Frank Calabretta’s Bail House as of Thursday. Jarvis was elected to the water agency board in November 1996, according to an online profile on the agency’s Web site. Jarvis represents District 3, which includes Auburn, Loomis, part of Rocklin, Penryn, Newcastle and Ophir. Voters elect water agency board members to four-year terms. Jarvis did not return a call for comment as of press time. ~ Jenifer Gee
