As expected, the Placer and Foresthill high school football teams will be No. 1 seeds in the playoffs, the Sac-Joaquin Section announced Saturday afternoon.

Top-seeded Placer (10-0) will take on Hilmar (6-4) in Auburn Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Div. IV playoffs. Placer fell from Div. III because of enrollment.

The Wildfires (9-1) earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Elliot Christian at Ripon Christian contest.

Bear River and Del Oro also qualified for the playoffs and will play Friday night at 7 p.m.

Bear River, seeded 11th in the same bracket as Placer, will play at Central Catholic.

In Div. II, No. 15 Del Oro (5-5) will travel to No. 2 Yuba City (9-1), which suffered its only loss at Placer.

Golden Sierra (7-3 ), the No. 2 seed in Div. V, earned a bye. It will host the winner of No. 6 Rio Vista at No. 3 Le Grand. Golden Sierra is coached by Placer High baseball coach John Hilton.
