Granite Bay bothers Connor Stanford, 11, left, and Casey, 9, show off their fresh-picked peaches at Nitta Ranch, in Loomis. The boys’ parents, Suzanne and Scott Stanford, said they were going to make fresh peach pie. The trees were planted by the late Al Nitta on property that borders his family-owned High Ranch Nursery, on Del Mar Avenue. The orchards include plum and Asian pear trees. Al Nitta’s son Mark, grandson Ian, and daughter-in-law Jennie carry on the family tradition of running the farmstand. Mark Nitta said the orchards will be open through this week until the peaches are gone and will reopen in fall for pears and heirloom tomatoes.
