Chase Bews, 18 of Penryn, was arrested for two alleged thefts at a Rocklin gym. Approximately 9 a.m. May 5, Rocklin Police responded to a burglary to lockers inside the locker room at California Family Fitness Center on Warren Drive. The victim noticed that his locker had been broken into and confronted the suspect in the gym parking lot. The suspect fled on foot before police arrived. Officers located the suspect hiding in the bushes at a nearby church where a short foot chase ensued. Bews was taken into custody in the parking lot of St. Peter and Paul Church. During the investigation, it was determined that Bews was also responsible for a theft at the gym May 3 and was gaining entry to lockers by force, taking the property and the keys to vehicles. He would then use the car keys to gain entry into victims’ vehicles and take personal property, according to police. Bews was arrested and transported to the Placer County Jail. He was booked on two counts of burglary. Additional charges are pending, according to police. ~Staff report
