The SWAT team from the Citrus Heights Police Department is conducting training exercises today in the Town of Loomis parking lot on the corner of Walnut and Magnolia streets.

According to Citrus Heights police Lt. Alex Tarcotte, the SWAT team – which includes about 20 people – is using the Loomis Fire Protection District house next to the fire station to train.

Tarcotte said members of the SWAT team, tactical, crisis negotiations, tactical dispatch plus a few people posing as “bad guys” are involved in the training.

He said the SWAT team trains 20 hours per month in various locations and the fire district volunteered their facility.
