'Nutcracker' features Loomis dancers

Placer Theatre Ballet puts on shows Dec. 5 and 6 in Auburn

Placer Theatre Ballet’s “Nutcracker” has become an annual tradition for foothill families. The classic ballet, to be performed at the Placer High School Theatre, features professional guest artists as well as over 80 Placer and Sacramento area youth. Emily Friesen, of Loomis, dances the major role of the Snow Queen. Other company members from Loomis are Svea North and Brooklyn Reis. Join Clara at her family's festive party, root for the toy soldiers battling mice, then travel with Clara and her beloved Nutcracker Prince through a dream kingdom of snow and ice to the Sugar Plum Fairy's palace. There, a dazzling array of entertainers from around the world gives Clara and the audience an unforgettable show. “Nutcracker” promises to be a lively, colorful and magical time for all. A tea lunch, with Nutcracker characters, will be served at the Powers Mansion Inn Events Center Saturday, Dec. 5, followed by VIP seating at the matinee. Performances are at 12 an 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The Saturday matinee is at 2 p.m. All seats are reserved; tickets are $11 to $18, plus a service charge. The tea party and matinee combination is $40.
