Nathan Taylor of Loomis has completed California Highway Patrol cadet training. Taylor was assigned to duty at the CHP’s San Jose Area office. Taylor is a 1996 Del Oro High School graduate. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and received a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He worked as a machinist prior to joining the CHP. Cadet training for Taylor included vehicle patrol, accident investigation, first aid, apprehension, and arrest of suspected violators, including those who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Training at the academy also included traffic control, emergency scene management, recovery of stolen vehicles, assisting the motoring public, issuing citations and report writing. Cadets also learn the various codes, including the vehicle code, penal code, and health and safety code.
