AUBURN CA - A house fire that was contained to one room in a North Auburn home Saturday was still under investigation, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said Monday.

The fire was reported at 7:15 p.m. and firefighters kept it from spreading from a back room. Cal Fire public information officer Lynne Tolmachoff said that damage was contained to the room and its contents.

An occupant of the 4625 Miller Lane house suffered an injured hand in the fire but neighbor Sandee Dennison said had returned to live on the premises.

The occupant declined to speak with the Journal.

The front of the house showed no sign of damage. Dennison, who lives across Miller Lane from the house that burned, said that the man had gone down to a mailbox and told her that when he returned onfoot, the house was burning.

Four engines were called to the fire.
