Loomis native Alice Barnes dies

Alice Rippey Barnes, a lifelong Loomis resident, died Saturday, Jan. 29. Her daughter, Lisa Stafford, said Mrs. Barnes was pronounced dead at Sutter Roseville Hospital. She believes the cause of death was a heart attack. Mrs. Barnes was a native of Loomis. She celebrated her 76th birthday on Jan. 19. In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Rick Stafford and their children of Lincoln, Mrs. Barnes is survived by her husband, Wes, and stepson, Wesley, of Loomis; and stepdaughters, Mary Smith of Sacramento and Ann Resado of Illinois. Graveside services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Newcastle District Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Masonic Lodge in Penryn.
