A Loomis resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident about 3 p.m. Friday in Penryn. James Whiteley, 22, was driving northbound on Penryn Road, between Interstate 80 and Taylor Road, when he lost control of his Toyota pickup and it went into an embankment, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Spitzer. Whiteley appeared to have suffered a head injury, Spitzer said, and was taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Hospital Medical Center. “He doesn’t remember how it happened,” Spitzer said, because Whiteley was “roughed up a little bit.” - Martha Garcia
