Celebrate Earth Day in Loomis from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 13 at the Loomis Train Depot parking lot.

This community event features more than 30 exhibits of local groups, environmental displays and family-oriented information booths and events.

Earth Day in Loomis features appearances by a live hawk and owl from Kindred Spirits. Visit with a former wild mustang and wild burros from the Bureau of Land Management that are now so friendly kids can pet them and offer them bites of hay.

Star Eco Station will bring exotic amphibians, reptiles and insects, along with their nationally recognized information about exotic animals and endangered species.  Kids can enjoy the ReCreate exhibit where they can make their own eco-art.

Attendees can think globally and eat locally as area farmers will be featured, some offering their fruit, vegetables and plants for sale.  Del Oro FFA members will sell their summer garden plants and nearby eateries will offer special discounts for Earth Day attendees.

Guests can learn about wildlife gardening, saving water and businesses leading the way to Zero Waste.

Local artists will exhibit the pieces they’ve created to celebrate the Earth and McLaughlin Studios will present live music in the afternoon.

The parking lot yard sale starts at 8 a.m.
