The Town of Loomis and Recology Auburn Placer have partnered up to accept Christmas trees for recycling from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29 to Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Boyinton and King roads intersection at Del Oro High School. Only trees that are clean and free of decorations and other non-organic materials (no flocking) will be accepted. For more information, call town hall at 652-1840, Recology at (530) 885-3735.

Golden Eagle Baseball is taking registration for kids ages of 4-14, from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10 at Pizza Factory, with a new division for children with special needs. Participants between the ages of 4 and 23 with special needs that would prevent them from playing in a traditional baseball or softball program are encouraged to sign up. The buddy system is allowed and encouraged. Buddies can assist with catching, fielding, throwing and base running. Buddies can be traditional participants of baseball and softball, family or community members. Go to www.goldeneaglebaseball.com and complete the registration form and waiver and either mail them or drop them at registration night.

The Del Oro girls wrestling team will be picking up Christmas trees on Wednesday, Jan. 2, starting at 9 a.m., to raise money for their program. Trees should be placed at the curb side and call or email the pickup location prior to Jan. 2, and place donation in an envelope on the front door.  A New Hope Animal Foundation will hold a used book sale from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 5 and Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2166 Swetzer Road. Prices are 25 cents to $1.  Donations are welcome. For more information, call 663-1608.

Del Oro alumni are invited to jump in with the current Del Oro men's and women's water polo teams for some friendly games on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Del Oro pool. The game format will be odd graduation years against even. Current varsity players will be split between the two teams. Tip-off for the women’s game is 11 a.m., followed by the men at 12:30 p.m. The pool will be open for warm-ups 30 minutes before each game time. Admission is $3 for students; $5 for adults; children under five admitted free. Commemorative T-shirts are $10 (please pre-order with your size by 12/28). Barbeque lunch of chicken and tri-tip sliders with all the fixings, drinks and dessert will be available afterward for $15 per person. This event is being organized by the Junior Council of the Friends of the Del Oro Pool and will benefit the new aquatic center. Email lunch reservations by Jan. 2, at Callahan@vfr.net.

The South Placer Republican Women Federated will have a luncheon at 11:30 a.m.,

Placer Pops Chorale will have a free E-waste drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Del Oro High School, 3301 Taylor Road. Participants won’t have to get out of their car, they can just pop the trunk or open the door and have it unloaded. For more information, call 797-2372. 

Del Oro CIF hosts a fajita dinner before Back To School night, from 5-6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28, in the Del Oro High School Cafeteria. The dinner sill be catered by Randy’s Creative Catering. All proceeeds benefit the CSF Scholarship Fund, College Trips and Conference trips the CSF club members take. Tickets are $10. Presale tickets are available until Friday, Jan. 18 from any student CSF member or contact Mrs. Luci at aluci@puhsd.k12.ca.us. Limited tickets will be sold at the door.

The American Legion John A. Stacker Post #775 presents their 20th annual Cioppino Dinner at 6 p.m., Feb. 2, at the Blue Goose Event Center. Tickets are $35 each and raffle tickets will be sold. For tickets, call Fuzzy Jarnagin at 798-8565.
