Members of the American Legion Auxiliary were installed at a joint installation of Auxiliary and Legion. Mrs. Helen Broadhead, District Auxiliary president, conducted the installation of the Auxiliary. Installed were Gladys Lanouette, president; Noreen Aguilar, 1st vice president; Mildred Taylor, 2nd vice president; Lorene Owen, secretary; Bea Tudsbury, treasurer; Alma Larsen, historian; Jean Stacker, sergeant at arms; Lavina Pilliard, marshal; Louise Swetzer, Lois Leak and Fay Howard, executive committee; and Lillian Pesi, junior past president. During the evening, two Gold Star mothers – Louise Swetzer and Lilli Pesi – were honored.

The Del Oro High School Parent’s Club hosted a brunch for the Del Oro faculty and staff. Under the leadership of Mrs. Connie Echelmeier, members of the parents club provided the staff with a wide variety of hors d’oeuvres and deserts in appreciation for the efforts of the staff throughout the year. During the brunch, Del Oro principal Bud Nobili presented a VIP award to Brenda Dwyer. “Brenda is recognized for her many contributions to the school advisory committee, she has worked many hours on numerous school and parents club committees, and has assisted with a wide variety of school and extra-curricular functions,” Nobili said.

Josh Morales, a 1999 Del Oro graduate, organized a golf tournament to help a friend and neighbor, Bart Brunello. Josh wanted to raise money to help purchase an automated wheelchair to improve Bart’s quality of life. The son of Trish and the late Lou Brunello, Bart is confined to a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia.
Michael Koberlein earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Boy Scout Troop 830. He was a 1999 Del Oro graduate. His future plans include serving a mission for his church. He is the son of Vivian and Terry Koberlein.
Indian Creek Golf Course hosted the Loomis Chamber nixer where Jan Clark described the history of the golf course. She introduced her partners and siblings. Peter and Kathy Nash and Bill Clark. Also introduced was the golf-course pro, Patty Snyder.
Mary Ann Quong along with Jean and Tom Sippola. were among the members of the Loomis Basin Historical Society enjoying an outing to the Nevada County Traction Company in Nevada City.
The Giants of the South Placer Little League won the major division championship. Players include Casey Payne, Garrett Luckett, Andrew Kouza, Alex Kleefeld, Sean Hood, Art Hawkins, Kyle Green, Dan Diani, Austin Cortopassi, Chris Casciato and Steve Camillucci.
The gavel was handed from Loomis Lions Club President Jack Winger to Pat Garnett. The newly elected vice presidents were Ed Bonner, Gordon Harris and Crickett Strock. A new member, Monte White, was inducted.
