The three local high school basketball teams that qualified for the CIF Northern California playoffs will all begin their state title quests on the road Tuesday night. Colfax’s boys squad, the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Division IV runner-up, has the shortest trip. The Falcons (26-5) will head to Northern Section champion Sutter, located just outside of Marysville. The Huskies (18-11) are led by senior center Isaiah Bohman, who averages 18.3 points and 18.4 rebounds per contest. Forwards Leszek Ratajczak and Rocky Khera each average just shy of 10 points per contest. Colfax’s girls, meanwhile, have the longest trip, heading north to Shasta Lake to play Northern Section Division IV champion Central Valley (19-10). Colfax (18-12), which reached the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals, will have to shut down junior forward Lala Forrest-Cawker, who leads Central Valley — also called the Falcons — in points per game (19.6), rebounds (9.2 per game) and steals 63). Central Valley forward Ashley Martinez also poses a threat. The senior averages 11.3 points per game and has hit a team-high 58 3-pointers. In Division III, Del Oro’s girls (26-5) will travel to face North Coast Section runner-up Dougherty Valley of San Ramon. Dougherty Valley is only in its third year of existence, but is plenty dangerous — the Wildcats are 26-3 and played tough against NCS champion Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland. All three games will tip off at 7 p.m.
