Local junior golfers make national news

Ulep fifth at First Tee Open

PEBBLE BEACH _ Whitney High?s Kelsey Ulep and Champions Tour professional Craig Stadler teamed up to shoot 17 under in three rounds (54 holes) for fifth place in the 2012 First Tee Open. Stadler was the inaugural First Tee Open Champions Tour winner in 2004. He and partner Aaron Woodard of First Tee Denver also won the pro/junior division that year. The cut after the second round came at 137 for the pro/junior competition. Ulep and Stadler stood at 132 and were tied for sixth before carding a 67 on the final day at Pebble Beach for fifth place. The team played one round at Del Monte Golf Course. The 2012 event was won by Mark McNulty and Tyler Broach of First Tee Richmond and Chesterfield. Broach birdied the final hole to post a score of 20 under for the victory. Euer at Ryder Cup Academy Del Oro High School?s Louie Euer participated in the Ryder Cup Junior Cup Academy at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Loomis golfer is was a part of the Ryder Cup outreach program. It offers aspiring young players an opportunity to experience elite player development. It offers expert instruction from award-winning PGA professionals.
