Lady Eagles volleyball rebounds after loss

The Del Oro High School girls volleyball team bounced back from a tough loss to Rocklin on Tuesday, with a 29-27, 25-19, 26-24 win over Nevada Union Thursday, in Loomis. Stephanie Solich played well, with 11 kills and nine digs as the Golden Eagles improved to 5-2 in the Sierra Foothill League heading into Tuesday’s showdown with league-leading Granite Bay. Tatum Jungsten had six kills, served 13-for-13 and added four blocks for Del Oro. Amanda Heyn had four kills, Megan Hentschke and Morgan Lees had 19 digs apiece, and Amy Heyn dished out 28 assists. In Del Oro’s 3-1 loss to Rocklin last Tuesday night, Rocklin won the first game 25-15. In the second game, the Golden Eagles stole a 27-25 win, but going into game three Rocklin regained a solid footing. Game three and four yielded 25-20 and 25-15 wins respectively for the Thunder. Del Oro sophomore Heyn had 26 assists, while senior Stephanie Solich led, with nine kills and eight service points. Jungsten and junior Lees each contributed eight kills. Netters cinch section playoff berth The Del Oro girls tennis team secured a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoff spot with a 6-3 win over Roseville last Tuesday, on the road. In singles action, Abby Bacharach, Leilani Dixon and Erin Wang all rolled to straight-set victories. Bri Simmons and Elena Hanson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Camilla Ahlquist and Sarah Silva won a first-set tie-breaker 7-4, before winning the second set 6-1. Macy Bailey and Renae Leveille cruised 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles. Frosh fall to Grizzlies The Del Oro freshman football team fell behind by two touchdowns to Granite Bay early in the game last week and were forced to play catch-up the rest of the way. The frosh team finally fell to the Grizzlies, 35-22, in a Sierra Foothill League game at Del Oro. Del Oro received short touchdown runs from Dustin Edwards and Tanner Robison and an 83-yard scoring gallop from Ben Hart. Hart, who filled in for quarterback Bryce Beauchamp, who was injured in the second quarter, also had an 88-yard kickoff return for the hosts.
