Del Oro JVs tie Granite Bay
Del Oro’s JV football team locked horns with Granite Bay last Friday night in Sierra Foothill League action and when the dust settled in the hard-fought battle, the Golden Eagles and Grizzlies had pushed each other in a 7-7 tie. Earlier this season, Granite Bay defeated Del Oro in a non-league game.
Now 3-4-1 on the season, Del Oro scored its touchdown with some trickery as wide receiver Jacob Terabetz tossed a “throwback” pass to quarterback Bryce Beauchamp.
On defense, the Golden Eagles picked up back-to-back red zone sacks from Saul Meneses and other stellar play from Daniel Paulson and Daynon Mathews.
Del Oro’s JVs will host Nevada Union Friday at 5:30 p.m. Nevada Union, which defeated Woodcreek’s JVs two weeks ago, dropped a 35-28 decision at Roseville last Friday.
Finney sparks boys water polo
Keenan Finney’s big match helped spur the Del Oro boys water polo team past Rocklin, 21-9, in Sierra Foothill League play last week. Finney proved too much for the Thunder to handle as he scored 10 goals in the SFL match.
Also scoring goals for the winners were Tyler Copley, who scored three; and Matthew Trefry and Nick Clark, who added two each. The Golden Eagles close their SFL slate with a match in Grass Valley today versus Nevada Union.
