If the Del Oro girls basketball team is trying to build a preseason resume that will pay dividends when the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section power ratings are released in January, the Lady Eagles appear to be well on their way.   Running their preseason record to 5-0, Del Oro notched perhaps its biggest win of the young campaign Monday evening by throttling visiting Clovis West, 45-27.   The loss was the first of the season for the visitors who also are nicknamed the Golden Eagles and who last season won the Central Section’s Div. I championship and were a So-Cal regional finalist.   Using a trademark man-to-man pressure defense as their catalyst, the Lady Eagles raced out to a 17-4 first quarter lead and didn’t let up going into halftime with a 25-10 advantage. In the second half, Del Oro allowed the visitors just single digit scoring in each the third and fourth quarters.     Crystal Sewell and Madeline Campbell each scored 11 points for the Lady Eagles while Briana Ruiz added six and Becky Duncan, Belle Obert and Stephanie Geyer contributed four points each. Del Oro opens play at 6:30 p.m. tonight in its own Lady Eagle Invitational meeting Casa Roble. Lady Eagles open own tourney tonight The Del Oro girls basketball team will amp up its schedule over the next few weeks as the Lady Eagles brace for a pair of big tournaments. Last week, Del Oro’s girls ventured on the road to St. Francis in Sacramento and returned home with a 57-48 win over the Troubadours Receiving excellent scoring balance, Del Oro pulled away from a 23-22 halftime lead with Becky Duncan’s 15 points, 12 from Madeline Campbell and 10 more from Belle Obert leading the way. Obert also added nine rebounds and nine blocks in the win, while Crystal Sewell added eight more points. ~ Staff report
