Del Oro’s Lady Eagles will open play Thursday in the West Coast Jamboree, one of the largest girls basketball tournaments in the nation. The tournament will run through Saturday
Now in its 13th year, the 2012 version of the Jamboree will feature a total of 120 teams competing in 14 different divisions at different high schools across the Easy Bay area.
The Lady Eagles will play this year in the coral division of the tournament and will be in a bracket with a familiar foe.
Del Oro will open play at Antioch High School today at 8 p.m. against Bullard of Fresno. Bullard was 7-2 going into last weekend’s games with one of the losses coming at the hands of nationally-rated Mater Dei.
On the same side of the bracket with Del Oro and Bullard are Hayward and Clayton Valley, two teams that will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Del Oro-Bullard winner will then play the Hayward-Clayton Valley victor on Friday at 8 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, the match-ups include Bishop Manogue, of Reno, taking on Vanden at 9:30 p.m. and Enterprise, of Redding, meeting Montgomery, of Santa Rosa, at 2 p.m.
Manogue will be a familiar foe if the Lady Eagles and Reno squad match up as the two teams played in the finals of the Lady Eagle Invitational two weeks ago, with Manogue outscoring the Lady Eagles, 70-62.
Following the Jamboree, Del Oro will be idle until hosting Rocklin, Dec. 11 in the Sierra Foothill League opener.
