The long-running Del Oro Lady Eagles Invitational girls basketball tournament’s 2011 edition will open a 3-day run tonight with eight teams vying in both the varsity and JV divisions of the tourney at Del Oro High School. The varsity division will open in the Bonner Gym with four games today. The tourney opener at 3:30 p.m., pits El Camino and McClatchy. That game will be followed at 5 p.m., by Colfax taking on Woodcreek. In the upper half of the tournament bracket, Del Oro will meet Casa Roble at 6:30 p.m., followed by the nightcap at 8 p.m., between Pleasant Valley, of Chico, and Whitney. Second-round consolation action on Friday will have games slated at 4 and 5:30 p.m., followed by the winner’s bracket semi-finals at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday’s final round starting times are 11:30 a.m.; for the 7th place game; 1 p.m. for the consolation game; 4 p.m. for the third place game; and the finals at 5:30 p.m. In the JV division, Thursday’s action gets going at 3:30 p.m., with Bear River squaring off with Woodcreek. Following action includes Colfax versus Pleasant Valley at 5 p.m.; Whitney and Casa Roble at 6:30 p.m.; and Del Oro opposite Placer at 8 p.m. JV game times for Saturday will be 10 a.m., for the third place game; 11:30 a.m., for the 7th place game; 1 p.m. for the consolation contest; and in the Bonner Gym, the 2:30 p.m. championship game.
