Lady Eagles Cap Perfect 12-0 SFL Water Polo Season; Open CIF Playoffs Friday

Capping a perfect run through the Sierra Foothill League, the Del Oro High girls water polo team tuned up for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II playoffs in a big way last Thursday. Receiving goals from seven different players, the Lady Eagles routed Roseville, 15-2, to cap a perfect 12-0 championship SFL season. Now 23-6 overall on the year, Del Oro will open play in the Div. II playoffs on Friday at Woodcreek High in Roseville. The Lady Eagles will be matched against Casa Roble in their opening round match at 1 p.m. A Del Oro win over the Rams would advance the Lady Eagles into Wednesday’s quarter-final round which is set for Whitney High, in Rocklin. Del Oro would be playing the winner of the first round match between the Capital Athletic League’s No. 2 team and the Solano County Athletic Conference’s No. 2 team. Game time would be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The semi-finals and finals are then set for Friday and Saturday back at Woodcreek. The Div. II girls championship match is slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday. Playoff ticket prices for the preliminary rounds are $6 for adults and $4 for students. Championship day ticket prices are $9 for adults and $5 for students. In the SFL-closing win over Roseville, Del Oro got big efforts from its big one-two punch of Courtney Weddle and Michal Andreatta. Weddle, who has tallied 92 goals this season, scored four against the Tigers, while Andreatta, who has scored 72 goals, added three herself. Also getting into the scoring act for the winners were Ryllie Haynes and Joie-Lynn Howard, with two goals apiece, and Amanda Weddle, Morgan Callahan, and Hannah Jarvis, all with one score apiece.
