Multiple Grammy Award-winner George Kahumoku Jr., a master of the Hawaiian slack key guitar, will perform at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 in the Sierra College Amphitheater on the Rocklin campus. Kahumoku Jr. has won numerous Hoku Awards from the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts, and is also a college teacher, an artist, and a farmer. He’ll be joined by his son, Keoki, for this evening of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music and storytelling. Prior to the concert, a slack key guitar and ukulele workshop will be presented by George and Keoki between 10 a.m. and noon in Walker Hall (Music Building). Proceeds will fund educational programs and future professional concerts and workshops at Sierra. The concert is being presented by the Sierra College Foundation, in association with SBL Entertainment and the Sierra College Music Department. The amphitheater is located next to the Campus Center Café and just outside the Sierra College Bookstore. Parking is free in any general campus lot.
