A three-way tiebreaker helped the Golden Eagles claim a second-place finish in Monday’s Rocklin Invitational at Whitney Oaks.
Del Oro, shooting an overall team score of 386, finished dead even with Christian Brothers and Oak Ridge, but the deciding factor came down to who shot better on the back nine.
On the backend of the course, Christian Brothers was one stroke better than the Eagles, who finished three ahead of Oak Ridge.
“We would have won if the tiebreaker was on the first nine,” Del Oro coach Hal Steinback said.
Del Oro was led by Josh Sedeno (73). He was followed by Justin Raskin (74), Louie Euer (79), Bobby Mullen (80), Ryan Takayama (80) and Jahaan Nargussi (83).
The round was played at Sierra Foothill League foe Rocklin’ s home course.
“That’s a good benefit for us when we play (Rocklin) in a match in a couple of weeks,” Steinback said.
