Del Oro’s Stephanie Geyer, headed next year on scholarship to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point , capped a standout prep high school basketball career by being named as the 2013 Sierra Foothill League girls basketball Most Valuable Player.

Geyer, a senior center, who helped Del Oro win a pair of league titles as a sophomore and junior and has a senior helped the Lady Eagles qualify for a third straight trip to the CIF Northern California Regional tournament, was one of three Del Oro players selected to the all-SFL squad.

Joining Geyer on the first team was sophomore forward Lauren Heyn. Mia Magline, a junior guard, meanwhile, was named to the all-SFL second team.

Geyer ended her Del Oro career as one of the school’s all-time leading scorers and rebounders. In the scoring department, in three varsity seasons she finished with 1,034 career points. On the rebound charts, in three seasons Geyer pulled down 756 boards.

In 2012, Geyer was the SFL’s co-MVP with teammate Brianna Ruiz.

SFL champion Nevada Union placed three players on the first team. They included Senior forward Nicole Lierly, junior guard Sydney Porter and sophomore forward Sammy DeHart.
