Freshmen girls buy into 'proven Del Oro traditions'
The Del Oro freshman girls basketball team recently capped off its great season by going 10-0 in Sierra Foothill League play.
The SFL champion Lady Eagles went 24-3 overall, placed first in the Del Campo and Lady Eagle frosh tournaments and second in the Lincoln frosh tourney.
The girls also earned a second-place finish in the Bella Vista JV tournament, where Del Oro made it to the championship game with a hard-fought, two-point victory over Sacramento High School’s junior varsity team.
The Lady Eagles averaged 48.5 points per game, while holding their opponents to a 28.1 average.
“The girls really bought into the proven Del Oro traditions of ‘defense creates offense and ‘together we’re better,’” said head coach Steve Evans. “It is such a pleasure to coach girls who like to compete and become high achieving students of the game. They are another group of remarkable young people that have blessed our program and community for as long as I can remember.”
