A pair of former Del Oro High soccer players now competing at Dominican University in San Rafael have earned all-Pac West honors for their fine efforts this season.
Lauren Gollnick, a 2012 graduate,  was a first team pick for the all-Pac West women’s squad while Kolby Mitnick, a 2011 graduate, was a third team selection for the men’s squad.
Gollnick, a freshman, tied for the team lead in goals with seven. Her five assists gave her a team-high 19 points, both of which were fifth best in the PacWest. Gollnick was named PacWest Player of the Week twice and was also named to the PacWest Fantastic 15 once during the season.
Gollnick, who started all 17 games for the Lady Penguins, scored her first career goal, a 35-yard game-winner, on Sept. 25 in a 1-0 win over Holy Names and recorded her first career hat trick on Oct. 10 in a 3-1 victory over FPU.
Mitnick, ranked tied for 25th in total assists and tied for 30 in assists
per game in NCAA Division II. He earned PacWest Fantastic 15 honors three times this season and was once named PacWest Player of the Week.
It is the second time earning the honor for the Newcastle, Calif. native, who earned an Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2011.
The Dominican men finished the regular season 9-7-2 and in seventh place
out of 14 teams at 5-7-2. Both marks were program bests since moving to the NCAA in 2009.
