Forest Lake, Del Oro go deep in victories

Shane Soria homered and drove in six runs and the Forest Lake Christian High baseball team survived a sloppy seventh to hold off Vacaville Christian 10-9 Monday at Lake of the Pines. Aaron Anderssen and Luke Taylor also homered for the host Falcons, who improved to 11-1-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the Central Valley Christian League. Forest Lake led 8-4 after Soria’s grand slam in the fourth inning and 10-5 going into the seventh before the visiting Falcons took advantage of errors to make it interesting. Amos McCamey allowed four runs and struck out five in five innings. Taylor Phillips allowed five runs in two innings of relief, fanning two. Taylor finished 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIS. Anderssen had two hits and two RBIs. Forest Lake travels to Vacaville Christian Friday. Del Oro 12, Roseville 2 at Loomis — Casey Cox and Matt Leak both homered and drove in four runs apiece and Freddy Cargile also homered as the Golden Eagles improved to 11-11 overall and 8-5 in the Sierra Foothill League, avenging last month’s 3-2 loss to the Tigers. Mason Magleby struck out six and walked four in the mercy-rule shortened game. Cox finished with three hits, including a double. Del Oro travels to Roseville this afternoon. Foresthill 20, Sacramento Waldorf 1 at Foresthill — The Wildfires scored 10 runs in the first inning and five more in the second, pounding out 18 hits in their rout of the Waves. Jon McCann struck out eight and walked one in a five-inning three-hitter. Ian Sykes went 4-for-4, scored four times and drove in a run. Kyle Cude had three hits. Mike Mangona hit a solo home run. Jase Pack tripled and drove in four runs. Foresthill (5-8 overall, 5-4 CVCL) travels to Sacramento Waldorf Thursday afternoon.
