The Sac-Joaquin Section football playoff brackets were unveiled Saturday afternoon and the possibility of a long anticipated Placer-Del Oro showdown became a reality. Placer and Del Oro are both in the Division III field for a second straight season. The Hillmen (8-2) will open the postseason at home against Patterson (7-3). Del Oro, the No. 2 seed, will host Sacramento. If both Placer and Del Oro win Friday, they would meet on Nov. 18 in Loomis. The two schools were bitter rivals when both played in the Sierra Foothill League. They have not met on the football field since 2005 after the Hillmen moved into the Pioneer Valley League. Del Oro is the defending section champion in Division III. Oakdale (10-0), whom the Eagles defeated in the section title game last fall, is the top seed in Division III this year. Placer lost to Oakdale in the second round of the playoffs last season at Le Febvre Stadium. In Division IV, Colfax (10-0) landed the No. 2 seed and will face No. 15 Dixon (4-6) at home on Friday. No. 9 Bear River (7-3) will hit the road to face No. 8 Sonora (7-3). Top-seeded Escalon would likely be the Bruins’ second round opponent. Colfax fell to Escalon in the section semifinals last season. Foresthill will have to wait to make its home playoff debut. The Wildfires earned a first-round bye in Division VI. They will host the winner of Friday’s Elliot Christian-Vacaville Christian game on Nov. 18. All playoff games will kick off at 7 p.m. The Division III final will take place at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium on Dec. 2 or 3. The Division IV?championship game will take place Dec. 2 at Lincoln High in Stockton. The Division VI championship will be decided at the Lodi Grape Bowl on Nov. 26.
