Eagles rout Rams to remain unbeaten

Placer, Bear River struggle offensively

LOOMIS — Senior point guard Sam Hodge led all scorers with 14 points Monday night as the unbeaten Del Oro High girls basketball team routed visiting Casa Roble 62-26. Senior forwards Katie Pulliam and Kezzia Tragesser added eight points apiece for the Golden Eagles (5-0). Sophomore guard Madeline Campbell had three assists, four blocks and four steals in addition to scoring six points. Leading the Golden Eagles in rebounds was sophomore forward Belle Obert, who pulled down seven. St. Francis 64, Placer 22 at Auburn — Junior forward Kayla Reeves scored nearly half of the Lady Hillmen’s points as they fell to the visiting Troubadors at Earl Crabbe Gymnasium. Reeves finished with 10 points. Three of her teammates — junior center Bethany Feis and forwards Bailey Bill and Melissa Manning — netted four apiece. Placer dropped to 1-4 with the loss. In junior varsity action, Placer lost to St. Francis 72-27. Sophomore point guard Nikki Johnston led the Hillgals (3-2) with seven points, followed by forward Dakota Ford with six. Guard Karli Frew and forward Marilyn Johnson added four points apiece. Grew dished out five assists, and Johnson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Chico 40, Bear River 26 at Chico — The Bruins (1-1) shot a dismal 1-for-18 from 3-point range as they suffered their first loss of the season. Junior center Riley Pearson led Bear River with seven points. Senior guards Talore Spencer and Jocelyn Fry added six apiece. Due to a schedule change, Bear River will host a non-league game against Lindhurst on Wednesday. The Bruins were originally scheduled to face Nevada Union.
