The senior has had one of the most impressive springs for Del Oro High’s track and field team. Mixon broke a 14-year-old triple jump record earlier this month, eclipsing the old mark of 33 feet, 5 1/2 inches by nine inches. She has also excelled in the high jump, long jump and 100-meter hurdles, and also runs a leg of the Eagles’ stellar 4x100 relay team. Mixon plans to attend California State University, Northridge before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin to finish a degree in kinesiology. Mixon, who carries a 3.7 GPA, isn’t sure if she plans to continue running competitively in college.
